What are wipers made of and how do they work

Car wipers are used to remove rain, snow or dust from the car glass to ensure good visibility for the driver. The wiper is an important safety part, it can work at high temperature (upper 80 degrees Celsius) and low temperature (minus 30 degrees Celsius) Celsius); it can resist acid, alkali, salt and other harmful substances to corrode; its service life can reach 150,000 wiping cycles (passenger car).

There are front wipers and rear wipers. Due to different driving devices, there are three types of wipers: vacuum type, pneumatic type and electric type. At present, electric wipers are widely used in vehicles. The electric wiper is mainly composed of a DC motor, a worm gear box, a crank, a connecting rod, a swing rod and a wiper blade.

Usually, the motor and the worm gear box are combined into one body to form a wiper motor assembly. The crank, connecting rod and swing rod and other rods convert the rotary motion of the worm gear into the reciprocating swing of the swing arm, so that the wiper blade on the swing arm realizes the wiper action. The power source of the wiper comes from the motor, which is the core of the entire wiper system, generally using a DC permanent magnet motor.

The wiper motor adopts a 3-brush structure for easy shifting. The intermittent time is controlled by the intermittent relay, which uses the charging and discharging function of the motor's return switch contact and the relay resistance and capacitance to make the wiper wipe according to a certain period. The wiper blade is a tool that directly removes rainwater and dirt from the glass. The scraper strip is pressed against the glass surface by the spring strip, and its lip must be consistent with the angle of the glass to achieve the required performance .

There are two types of wiper blades: bone wipers and boneless wipers. Bone wiper, that is, a traditional wiper with a metal bracket; boneless wiper, that is, without a metal bracket. In terms of design principle, the more fulcrums the wiper has, the more uniform the force of the wiper blade will be, the more docile it will be in contact with the glass, and the better the water removal effect will be. The boneless wiper does not have a bracket, and the entire wiper blade itself is used to pressurize, which is equivalent to the whole point of force on the wiper blade, so the boneless wiper is more effective than the boneless wiper.

Under normal circumstances, there is a wiper control knob on the car combination switch handle, with three gears: low speed, high speed and intermittent. The top of the handle is a washer button switch, and when the switch is pressed, washing water is sprayed out, and the windshield is washed with the wiper.
